Sorry for the lack of posts lately. My schedule has changed a bit from being busy at the end of the week, to now being busy at the beginning of the week. So I might need to make a few changes around here such as switching Friday Quotes to Mondays or something until I can get caught up on things around here.
For those of you familiar with Sixx Design (I wrote about them here), I recently picked up their new book at the library while I’ve been waiting for it to come off of back order on Amazon (it’s back in stock btw) and Barnes and Noble. I really love this book. It is so approachable and realistic. Sometimes design can feel unattainable or unrealistic for average folks, but not in this book. I love how they give tips on everything from how to work with contractors to how to find the best stuff on a budget at flea markets. They have great ideas on functionality in the home for families and ways to have a well-designed home despite their seven kids. It’s pretty impressive.
Some of my favorite tips are how they pick up items at flea markets like a bedside table for 25 bucks and just re-paint it to look brand new. They re-upholster chairs from garage sales and family heirlooms to make them feel more modern with a vintage touch. Many of the things I love to do for my own home right now. If only I had access to Paris flea markets like they do! Check out Downtown Chic if you’re looking for some affordable, realistic ways to decorate your home and you’ll be entertained along the way by how this family grew their hobby of remodeling homes into their career.
*This post is completely my own opinion and is not sponsored in any way. I checked this book out from the library for my own enjoyment.
